Beal to Castlecove Walk (via Coomcallee ridge and Staigue Fort) - Grade A walk - strenuous (4 Hours) Bus will depart at 11am outside Rineys Bar. Walk will commence from Beal at 11.15am and follow the forestry path west of Gortramach ascending to the western slopes of Coomcallee. Heading west along the ridge this walk will wind its way across to Staigue Fort and continue along a country road to Castlecove (Staigue Fort Hotel). Walking boots are essential. PAINTING WORKSHOP10am - 4pm
The aim of this workshop is for everyone to relax and enjoy it with no pressures or expectations. You will be given the opportunity to watch demonstrations and receive tuition in drawing, painting (personalise enamel pots or mugs with watercolours and acrylics) and silk-painting (create your own scarf or wall-hanging). Numbers are limited as every participant will receive individual attention and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, family rates available. The price of €50pp includes all materials.

BASKET MAKING 10am - 4.30pm
This is a most popular craft and every year the classes are booked swiftly, so get your name in fast! (max. 8 people per class The course takes about 6 hours, with some time for lunch. It takes place under the festival cover on the North Square, so rain
or shine does not matter, the day will pleasantly fly by while you are concentrating on making a most beautiful home made and useful piece of art. People are then very happy to take their finished, personal product home, after a ‘small day’s work’, to be used for years to come. Booking in advance is necessary as our most experienced teacher has to bring the willow rods and other materials all the way from county Cork to Sneem.If this is something you always wanted to do, do it now, you won’t regret it!

THE ANIMAL ROADSHOW 4pm - 7pm
A fantastic opportunity to meet and learn about an exotic and unusual collection of animals. The aim is to encourage a greater awareness of animals and the environments in which they live in an educational, yet entertaining, way. But shh, don’t tell the kids! All the animals are tame and safe to handle. It will be held in the Community Centre and the price of €5pp will include face-painting, hair-braiding and balloon modeling.
Crate Climbing Training 7pm
If you feel like giving the Crate Climbing Competition a try, practice your skills and increase your chances to win on Saturday. If you want to win Hands-on help will be given at a small cost of €2pp

DRAMA SOC: The Faith Healer . 8.30pm

This is the first time that the annual performance of the Drama Society will coincide with the Family Festival. The play is essentially plotless, consisting of 4 monologues spoken
by 3 characters: an itinerant Irish faith-healer, his wife, and his English manager may describe the play as a mesmerizing trgicomedy on faith, art, and the power of unconditional love.
RACE NIGHT: 11pm
This is a night renowned for being good craic, where you can back a winner or two as you are presented with 10 races of 10 horses each. After expert analysis from John Francombe you will be given the opportunity to bet on a favorite and his expert commentary will see you cheering and yelling your horse to the finish line. Whether it’s a tragedy or a triumph, whether your luck fails you or you find yourself on a lucky streak, this night will surely give you plenty of thrills!
